Roger D. Taylor Services for Roger D. Taylor, 61, of Jefferson, formerly of Kingsley, will be 1:00pm Monday February 19, 2007 at First United Methodist Church, 307 South Wilson Street, Jefferson, Iowa. Burial will be in the Jackson Township Cemetery (aka Wright Cemetery). The family will greet friends from 6:00 - 8:00pm Sunday at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home, 119 West Lincolnway, Jefferson, Iowa. Memorials in Roger’s name may be left at the funeral home. Roger Dean Taylor was born October 14, 1945, in Kingsley, Iowa to Edward and Alice Taylor. He graduated from Kingsley-Pierson High School in 1964. Roger joined the United States Air Force and became a firefighter stationed in North Dakota. On November 29, 1969, he married M. Jo Taylor in Kingsley. After his discharge from the Air Force, he started driving a semi. From childhood, driving the big trucks was what Roger had wanted to do. He continued driving a semi for 38 years. He loved meeting new people, and over the years and miles he made many friends. Some of his other interests were farm tractors and old cars. Roger died of natural causes on February 12, 2007 near Rich Hill, Missouri. His survivors include his wife M. J0 Taylor of Jefferson; mother Alice Pratt of Kingsley; son Chuck Taylor and wife Jean of Mercer, Missouri;, daughter Rhonda and husband Greg Davis of Coon Rapids; grandson Brandon Taylor and wife Katie of Bayard; grandson Tyler Davis of Ankeny; grandson Tony Davis of Coon Rapids; grandson Nick Taylor of Mercer, Missouri; granddaughter Heather Taylor of Mercer Missouri; brother Steven Taylor of Maxwell; sister Janice of N.H.; sister Nancy and husband Mark DeRaad of LeMars; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. |
