Byron O. Brady
Byron Omar Brady was born August 16, 1920 to William and Mabel (Broyhill) Brady in Dakota County, Nebraska. He attended school in Homer, NE, where he lettered 3 years each in football, basketball and baseball. He graduated from Homer High School in 1938. Byron entered the United States Army in July 1944 and served in the 35th Infantry Division. He survived the Battle of the Bulge, the Battle of the Rhine River, and was among the first troops to meet the Russians at the Elbe River. He was awarded 3 bronze stars, the good conduct medal, and was honorably discharged in November 1945. Bryon worked much of his life as a salesman, first of farm feeds and later agricultural sprayers. He enjoyed meeting and talking with people all of his life, even up to the very end. He loved to work for the church and for God. Byron served over 50 years as an Elder in the Christian (Disciples of Christ) Church and was given a rare Elder Emeritus recognition. Byron was a member of the VFW and belonged over 59 years to the Masonic Lodge. Byron met the love of his life, Frances Neal, and they were married August 16, 1940. They became the parents of a daughter, Mary, and a son, Michael. Byron and Frances were married 64 years, 10 months when Frances went home to our Lord in 2005. At the age of 88 years, Byron Brady went home to our Lord Jesus Christ on December 18, 2008. There he joins his beloved wife, Frances. Byron’s brothers, Paul and Gail also preceded him in death. Survivors include: daughter Mary Rozendaal and her husband Harv of Wenatchee, WA; and son Michael Brady and his wife Janice of Woodbury, MN; 5 grandchildren: Margaret (Guido) Poperoni, Alan (Ellie) Rozendaal, Kevin (Constie) Rozendaal, Erica Lynn (John Mark) Holland and Rebecca Jo (Michael) Olson; 9 great-grandchildren; sister Lola Fest of Windsor, CO; other relatives, and many friends. |
