Memorial Services for Dale Sayre, 70, of Jefferson, will be 2:00pm Saturday, January 5, 2008 at Central Christian Church in Jefferson. The family will greet friends at the church beginning at 1:00pm Saturday. Mr. Sayre’s body has been cremated. Interment will be in Franklin Twp. Cemetery, Cooper, Iowa.
Dale Albert Sayre, son of Walter and Myrtle Sayre, was born May 25, 1937 in Scranton, Iowa.
Dale attended school in Scranton and graduated from Scranton High School in 1956. He married Kay Mooney on June 17, 1956. The couple lived in Scranton before moving to Jefferson in 1962. Dale and Kay enjoyed 51 years of marriage before Dale passed away.
Dale began working for Osmundsons Manufacturing in Perry. After working there for 20 years, he worked at Chicago Rivet in Jefferson doing industrial maintenance. At the age of 62, he retired.
In his spare time Dale enjoyed an afternoon of watching the New York Yankees play baseball and an evening of watching wrestling on television. He loved being an active member of his children and grandchildren’s lives.
After a long battle with cancer, Dale Sayre passed away on January 1, 2008 at the Israel Hospice House in Ames, Iowa at the age of 70.
He is survived by his wife Kay; children: Julie Busby and her husband Randy of Keller, Texas; Jody Orchard and her husband Chris of Jefferson; David Latta and his wife Becky of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren: Chris Schuttler and his wife Christina; Nick Schuttler; Thomas Schuttler; Katie Busby; Jennifer Orchard; Shane Latta; Elisa Latta; 3 brothers: Howard Sayre of Oroville, CA, Robert Sayre of Minden, NV, and Bernard Sayre of Jefferson; one sister: Ruth Ann Joy of Jefferson; seven great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Carl, James, Marvin, Maurice, and sister Lois.
