Funeral services for Edgar F. Jeffries, 97, of Jefferson and formerly of Fort Dodge, will be 11:00am Tuesday, Feb 19, 2008 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jefferson, with burial at North Lawn Cemetery in Fort Dodge. Visitation begins 8:30am Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jefferson, with his family present to greet friends from 9:00am until the time of the service. Edgar Fay Jeffries was born January 5, 1911 in Kansas City, Kansas. He was the son of Milton and Maude (Faulconer) Jeffries.

Edgar graduated from Fort Dodge High School, and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics at Iowa State College in 1934.

On December 1, 1935 Edgar was united in marriage to Frieda Grunwald at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge.

Edgar and his father operated Jeffries Grocery in Fort Dodge from 1934 to 1951. He sold produce and then insurance from 1951 - 1975, and from 1957- 1972 was a real estate broker and a contractor as Jeffries Real Estate, in Fort Dodge.

In 1993 Edgar and Frieda moved to Evergreen Ridge Retirement Center in Jefferson, Iowa and Edgar resided there until his death. Edgar and Frieda were members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson.

Edgar Jeffries died February 15, 2008 at the Greene County Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his sister, Evelyn Satterlee of Des Moines, Iowa, two sons, Robert Dean Jeffries and Milton Bruce Jeffries of Fort Dodge, and a grandson, Christopher Hankel. His wife Frieda died in 2002. At the time of Frieda's death they had been married for 66 years.

Survivors include daughters Fay Tracy and her husband John of Boulder, Colorado, and Kathleen Hankel of Jefferson, Iowa. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
