Mass of Christian Burial for Ivan Wessling, 59, of Urbandale, formerly of Grand Junction, will be 2:00 pm Wednesday January 23, 2008 at St. Brigid Catholic Church, Grand Junction, with burial in Junction Township Cemetery, Grand Junction.

Visitation will be from 1:00- 9:00 pm Tuesday at St. Brigid Catholic Church, Grand Junction, with family present from 6:30-8 PM Tuesday evening at the church.

Ivan Douglas Wessling, son of Douglas and Vera Nadyne Culley Wessling, was born on November 24, 1948 in Jefferson, Iowa.

Ivan attended school in Grand Junction, Iowa.  Upon graduating from high school, he moved to Des Moines, Iowa where he was employed by R & R Welding; transferring to R & R Welding in Waterloo, Iowa where he was employed for 14 years prior to returning to Des Moines.

On September 25, 1976 Ivan was united in marriage to Marleen Welch.  The couple made their home in Urbandale, Iowa and Ivan continued to work for Praxair, formerly R & R Welding, until his health declined in 2002.

Marleen, his loving wife, cared for him during his extended illness, never leaving his side and always offering support and strength.

Ivan Wessling died January 20, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.  He was 59 years of age.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Nadyne.

Survivors include his wife, Marleen Wessling of Urbandale, IA; father, Douglas Wessling of Jefferson, IA; two brothers: LeRoy Wessling (Sandra) of Urbandale, IA and Roger Wessling (Judy) of Grand Junction, IA; a sister: Jane Higgins (Gary) of Grand Junction, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. 

Memorials are suggested to American Diabetes Association or the Iowa Kidney Foundation.
