Funeral services for Jeanne Blackburn, 85, of Jefferson, will be 11:00 am Thursday August 21, 2008 at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson, with burial at the Jefferson Cemetery.  Friends may call at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson after 11:00 am Wednesday, where the family will greet friends from 7:00 to 8:30 pm. 

Elma Jeanne Blackburn, daughter of Arb and Ethel (Dillavou) Frease, was born July 21, 1923 at Scranton, Iowa.  Jeanne later moved to Swea City, where she graduated from high school.

On July 19, 1942, Jeanne was married to Roger Blackburn at Grant City, Missouri.  The couple made their home in Jefferson.  They became the parents of five children.
         
Jeanne and Roger owned and operated the Greene County Roller Rink from 1961 – 1971.  Additionally, Jeanne worked as a waitress for many years at Cleta's Café, B & E Ice Cream Shop and Truck Haven.  She retired in 1985. 
         
Jeanne was an avid sports fan.  She traveled to see her kids play all their games.  She especially enjoyed basketball, football and baseball.
         
Jeanne Blackburn died August 18, 2008 at the Greene County Medical Center.   She was 85 years of age.  Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Roger who died in 2002; a son Tom who died in 2004; grandson Joshua Hostetler; sisters Thelma Kelly, and Jo Kemp; and brothers John and Glen Frease.

Survivors include two sons: Dennis Blackburn of Jefferson, IA; and Chris (Smoothy) Blackburn and his wife Sue Ann, of Jefferson, IA; two daughters: Pam Hostetler and her husband Paul (Skeeter) of Jefferson, IA; and Dixie Glade and her husband Randy of Guthrie Center, IA; daughter-in-law Cheryl Blackburn of Stilesville, IN; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mildred Anderson of Swea City, IA; other relatives and friends.
