Graveside services for James Helm, 86, of Mobile, Alabama formerly of Jefferson will be 11:00 am Monday October 6, 2008 at the Jefferson Cemetery, Jefferson, Iowa.  Visitation will be after 1:00 pm Sunday, October 5, 2008 at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson with the family present to greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

James is survived by his wife Helen Faye Hood Helm of Mobile, Alabama; his son:  James Helm of Mobile, Alabama; his sisters:  Pearl Taylor of Pensacola, Florida and Christine Wayland of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and his brother:  Charles Helm of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

James Wiley Helm was born October 13, 1921 in Oxford, Arkansas, the son of Bertie Hershey and Earnest Helm.

James served his country in the United States Army and the United States Air Force during World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War.  He was a member of the Church of Christ and a past member of the V.F.W.

James died October 1, 2008 at Mercy Medical in Mobile Alabama.  He was 86 years old.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife by a pervious marriage, Margie Malderene Helm; his daughter Janet Helms; his brother Terence E. Helm; and a step-daughter Marsha Neese.

Surviving are his wife Faye Hood Helm of Mobile, Alabama; his son James H.N. Helm Jr. of Mobile, Alabama; two sisters: Pearl Taylor of Pensacola, Florida and Christine Wayland of Tulsa, Oklahoma; his brother Charles Helm of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; his step-son: Alan Hood; 2 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild and 5 step-great grandchildren.
