Leslie Laszlo Borsay was born on June 27, 1941, the son of Laszlo Aaron Borsay and Elizabeth Ivacson.  He and his family endured the bombing of Budapest, Hungary in WWII during the Nazi occupation.  After the war, during the occupation of the Russians, his family was able to escape to Delhi, Ontario, Canada.  They moved to Springdale, Pennsylvania in 1956.  He greatly valued his Hungarian roots and loved his boyhood in Canada, but he proudly became a citizen of the United States of America in December of 1962.  He was always actively involved in the political process and was able to cast an absentee ballot for the November 2008 election.

He graduated from Springdale High School in Pennsylvania in 1959.  He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh, and also had advanced degrees from Princeton Theological Seminary and the University of Chicago.  He continued to have a lifelong love of learning surrounding himself with many beloved books.

He married Karen Vandall of Volga, South Dakota on March 9, 2006 and they resided in Jefferson, Iowa.
