Funeral services for Polly Martin, 87, of Jefferson, will be 2:00pm Tuesday June 3, 2008 at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson. Interment will be in the Jefferson Cemetery. Friends may call at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson after 2:00pm Monday, where the family will be present to greet friends from 7:00 – 8:00pm Monday.

Pauline Louise “Polly” Martin was the daughter of David August Reberry and Cornelia Mae Sease Reberry.  She was born January 11, 1921, in Mountain Grove, MO.  Her family moved to Iowa when she was six months old.  She lived in the country and attended country schools until she and her family moved to Jefferson In 1933.

Polly graduated from Jefferson High School in 1937.  She went to work as secretary for Drs. Lyon, Maples and Hansen and worked at other jobs.  She started as secretary with McClure and Culver Engineering Company.  The company moved to Fort Dodge in 1964 where she worked until 1979.  She then moved back to Jefferson to care for her mother.  She opened a Thrift Store for awhile and did other small jobs until she retired in 1986.  She was a member of the United Methodist Church all her life and did odd jobs there.

In 1941 she married Darwin R. Martin.  To this union they had three children.

She is survived by her son, Barry and Gerry Martin of Omaha, NE, and two daughters, Nicki and Dr. Charles Loeck of Lake City, IA and Neil and Terry Tasler of Churdan, IA.  She has 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
