Services for Ruth Cody, 90, of Grand Junction, Iowa will be 10:00 am Friday, November 7, 2008 at the First Presbyterian Church in Grand Junction, Iowa.  Visitation will be after 11:00 am Thursday November 6, 2008 at the First Presbyterian Church in Grand Junction with the family present to greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.  Interment will be in the Junction Township Cemetery, Grand Junction, Iowa.

Ruth is survived by her sons:  Joel Cody of Grand Junction, Iowa and John Cody of Forest Park, Illinois.

Ruth Avis Scott Cody, daughter of Clyde Milton Scott and Jennie Marie Small Scott, was born on November 13, 1917 in Dallas County, Iowa near Granger.  Ruth and her family moved to a farm near Dana, Iowa in the early 1920’s.  She attended school in Dana and graduated from Dana High School in 1934. Ruth attended Iowa State Teachers College and Simpson College and taught in rural county schools in Hardin and Kendrick Townships in Greene County, Iowa.  Ruth lived in California from 1944-1947 working as an office manager for a private hospital.  Ruth was united in marriage to Raymond Cody on November 23, 1947.  To this union, two sons were born, John and Joel.

Ruth was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church; Mary Martha Circle and the Jolly Quilters.  She was one of the first women to become an elder in the First Presbyterian Church. Other memberships included the Rebekah Lodge, Thimble Club, Pleasant Hour Club, 20th Century Club and the neighborhood card club.

Ruth A. Cody passed away on November 3, 2008 at the Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson, Iowa.  She was 90 years of age and had been a resident at Regency Park Nursing & Rehab Center since February 2007.  Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Raymond, in June 2002; and her brothers, Eldon and Channing Scott.

Ruth’s survivors include her sons, John Cody, Forest Park, Illinois and Joel (Jenon) Cody, Grand Junction, IA and grandchildren, Andrew (Angie) Cody, Grinnell, IA; Kelly Cody and Marcy Cody, both of Carroll, IA; and Swedish son, Goran Lindberg.
