Funeral services for Richard D. Frantz, 74, of Whiting, Iowa, formerly of Grand Junction, Iowa will be 10:00am Wednesday February 27, 2008 at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson, Iowa, with burial at Paton Township Cemetery, Paton, Iowa.  Visitation with the family will begin at 9:00am Wednesday at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home.

Richard (Dick) Dean Frantz, 74, of Whiting, Iowa died Friday, February 22, 2008, at Pleasant View Care Center after suffering from a stroke.

A son of Dwight Dean and Vava (Johnson) Frantz, Dick was born on November 25, 1933 in Grand Junction on the farm. A 1951 graduate of Grand Junction High School, he attended Iowa State University. With strong ties to the farming industry, Dick left the farm and spent his adult life in fertilizer, feed and seed sales and management for various grain elevators. He retired in 1990 and relocated in Texas. Dick returned to Iowa in 1996 and suffering from a debilitating illness, made Pleasant View Care Center his home in 2004.

In his younger years, his passion was playing softball, bowling, fishing and playing cards.

Dick married Lita McCullom on February 20, 1955 and together they raised 3 daughters; Cindy Brock who resides in Midland, Tx with husband Brad and children Zoe & Connor, Barb Heithoff who resides in Yankton, S.D. with husband Roger and children Kendra & Drew, Kelle Sullivan who resides in Seguin, Tx with husband Frank and children Skylar & Steele.

Survivors include his three daughters, six grandchildren, his mother Vava (Johnson) Frantz, one brother, Robert Frantz and wife Kathryn of Cheyenne, Wyoming and three sisters, Karen Kersey of Carroll, Autumn (Kathy) Wagner and husband George of Boone and Felicia Davis and husband Hank of Churdan, along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Dick was preceded in death by his father, Dwight David Frantz. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Pleasant View Care Center, Sunshine Unit, Whiting, Iowa.
