Funeral services for Robert Myers, 73, of Jefferson, will be 10:00a.m. Monday, June 16, 2008 at Central Christian Church in Jefferson.  Interment will be in the Jefferson Cemetery.  Friends may call at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson after 8:00am Sunday where the family will be present to greet friends from 5:00 - 7:00pm Sunday.
Obituary for Robert Ervin Myers

 Robert Ervin Myers, Bob, son of Lucille Mercer and Dale Myers was born on January 4, 1935, on a farm in Guthrie County, Iowa.  He was baptized at the Bagley Church of Christ in the early 1950's.  Bob attended school in Bagley, Iowa, and graduated in 1953. 

In September of 1953 he married Eunice Beers at the Church of Christ in Bagley.  They had two daughters, Penny (Bill Wenner from Delano, Minnesota) and Lori (David Sayre from Jefferson).  Penny and Bill have a daughter Lindsay and son Ryan, both who reside in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  Lori and David have a daughter Megan (Matt Fox) who lives in Dallas Center, Iowa, and Nathanael who lives in Jefferson.

Bob's first career was working for the Federal Government's Agriculture program, ASC.   He retired from the ASC in 1973.  He also worked at AMF, Moorehead Motors, the State Highway Commission and finally, as a maintenance engineer at the Greene County Courthouse until he really retired in 1998.

When Bob wasn't working you could find him somewhere in town having coffee with whoever showed up.  He also enjoyed golfing in his earlier years, going gambling with friends, attending or watching Iowa State and the University of Iowa football games and most of all spending summers with his grandchildren.  His hobby was taking care of all the stray cats who found his garage.

Bob had put up a valiant eight year fight with cancer.  His wishes were to stay at home as long as possible and he was able to get his wish as he did not enter the hospital until the day before he passed away.  Bob died June 9th, 2008.  He was 73 years old.
He is survived by wife Eunice, daughter Penny and family Bill, Lindsay and Ryan Wenner, daughter Lori and family David, Megan & Matt Fox and Nathanael Sayre; sisters Jean Laughery (from Jefferson), and Nancy Sellers (from Bagley) and brother Donal Myers (Joanne) from Austin, Texas; Eunice's sisters and their families, numerous close friends and relatives.  He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Joyce
