Funeral services for Wayne L. McDaniel, 70, of Jefferson, will be 2:00 pm Monday, November 10, 2008 at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson.  Cremation will take place after the service. 

Friends may call at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson after 11:00 am Sunday, where the family will be present to greet friends from 2:00 – 4:00pm Sunday.

Survivors include his wife, Roberta McDaniel of Jefferson, IA; two daughters: Lezli McDaniel of Ankeny, IA and Shannon Hagen of Jefferson, IA; 1 step-grandson; and two brothers: Vern McDaniel of Ecuador, and Dale McDaniel of Omaha, NE.

Wayne Lee McDaniel was born in Omaha, Nebraska, on May 16, 1938.  He was the son of Irvin and Dorothy Maruhn McDaniel.

Wayne grew up in Omaha and graduated from Technical High School.  He was married to Roberta Cornelison of Perry, Iowa, on May 30, 1959.  They had two daughters, Lezli and Shannon.  In 1967, the family moved to Jefferson, Iowa, where he resided since.

He was reared as on of Jehovah’s Witnesses and baptized on October 17, 1953.  He was an active member of the local Jefferson congregation until his death.  Wayne worked as an industrial electrician at Electrolux in Jefferson for over 30 years.  He spent the last few years of his employment at US Filter in Ames, Iowa, and retired in 2004.  Wayne loved to spend time using his computer after his retirement, and worked as a volunteer for the SHIIP program, assisting senior citizens in selecting appropriate Medicare drug coverage.

He was preceded in death by his parents.  Wayne is survived by his wife, Roberta, of Jefferson, and two daughters, Lezli McDaniel of Ankeny, Iowa and Shannon and her husband Dennis Hagen of Jefferson.  Also surviving are two brothers, Vern and his wife Nola of Guayaquil, Ecuador, and Dale and his wife Beverly of Omaha; also a brother-in-law, Robert Cornelison and his wife Carolyn of Perry.  He also has one step grandson, Dylan Hagen of Jefferson, several nieces and nephews, and several grand nieces and nephews.
