Aldora Erma Youngblood, 82, of Jefferson, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away November 24, 2009 at Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson.

The daughter of Arthur Gilbert Lund and Anna (Nerhus) Lund, Aldora was born August 26, 1927 at Badger, IA. Aldora was baptized October 2, 1927 at Badger Lutheran Church and confirmed at that same church March 30, 1941.

When she was two years old, the family moved to a farm near Vincent, IA.  She attended country school and then went to Eagle Grove High School where she graduated in 1944 with a Normal Training teaching certificate. She was 17 years old, but due to the war and a shortage of teachers, she was given a war emergency certificate for her first year of teaching.  She taught school for an additional 5½ years working summers at the State Bank in Fort Dodge.  She worked full-time at the State Bank in Fort Dodge as a teller until her marriage to Meryl Youngblood of Jefferson on December 30, 1961 at Badger Lutheran Church.

Aldora was a homemaker and farmed side by side with her husband for many years along with operating Youngblood Seed Farm. They farmed until 1999 when they retired and moved to Jefferson. Aldora enjoyed gardening, reading, cooking, shopping, and spending time with her family whom she loved dearly. She also took pleasure in belonging to several women’s clubs. Aldora was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Jefferson.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Meryl Youngblood of Jefferson, daughter Marilyn (Perry) Parker of Churdan and sons Larry Youngblood of Peoria, IL and Bruce (Amy) Youngblood of Jefferson and four grandchildren Kyle, Kayla, Sara, and Danielle Youngblood.  She also leaves her sister Maxine Harvey of Sheffield and brother Gordon (Liz) Lund of Vincent along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy.

Memorial contributions may be given to Greene County Hospice and First Presbyterian Church in Jefferson.
