Funeral Services for Dan, 59, of Jefferson will be 10:00 am Monday, February 2, 2009 at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson.  Visitation will be after 12:00 noon on Sunday, February 1, 2009 at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson with the family present to greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.  Following the service, cremation will take place and there will be a private family burial held at a later date in the Jefferson Cemetery.

Daniel David Griffiths was born on September 8, 1949 in Jefferson Iowa, the son of Lester Lee Griffiths and Edith Pauline Heuton. Dan attended school in Jefferson and graduated from Jefferson High School.

On February 12, 1969, Dan entered the United States Army; he served most of his time at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, California. Dan was honorably discharged from the Army on February 11, 1975.

Dan lived In Jefferson all of his life except when he was away in the Army. He worked for Green County Secondary Road Department for 32 years and retired in 2004.

Dan always believed his mission in life was to make other people laugh. Dan never met a stranger and knew practically everybody in town.

Dan Griffiths died on January 22, 2009 at the age of 59. Preceding him in death were his parents.

Surviving are three children: David Griffiths of Red Bluff, CA: Kevin & his wife Kristi Griffiths of West Sacramento, CA: Bryan Griffiths of West Sacramento, CA, two grandchildren Brett Lee and Wyatt John; sister Nancy Griffiths of Jefferson.
