Funeral Services for David Merical, 50, of Coon Rapids will be 11:00 am Wednesday at the First Christian Church in Adel, IA.  Interment will be at 2:00 pm at the Richland Township Cemetery in Guthrie County, IA.  Visitation will be after 2:00 pm Tuesday at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson with the family present to visit friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

David Wayne Merical was born April 14, 1959 in Des Moines, Iowa.  He was the second son of Richard and Betty Merical.

David worked construction, traveling around the country.  He really enjoyed spending time with his wife Annette at home and was looking forward to building a future together.  It was just too short.  David also enjoyed fishing, Redskins football, Jeff Gordon racing, golfing, softball and having a beer with family and friends.  David loved to joke around, he always told you, “If I didn’t tease you I wouldn’t love you.”

David passed away suddenly on June 21, 2009 at St. Anthony’s Hospital, Carroll, Iowa.  David will be missed greatly by his wife Annette Gilliland Merical of Coon Rapids, mother Betty Wicks of Jamaica, brothers Tim (Sue) Merical of Adel, Brad (Tina) Merical of Jamaica, sisters Cindy (Stuart) Coapland of Adel and Susan (Carl) Howell of Jamaica,  stepson Derick Cannon of Jefferson, mother-in-law Rose Marie Norgart of Jefferson, grandmother Cora Spencer of Mt. Ayer, many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and many extended family and friends.
David was preceded in death by his father Richard Merical, brother Phillip Merical, stepfather Donald Wicks, grandparents Gordon and Marie Merical and grandfather Howard Spencer.
