Hazel Rasmussen
Hazel was born in Bristol Township January 18, 1920, daughter of Roy and Edith Whitver. She was the ninth child in a family of nine boys and three girls. She attended grade school at a country school in Bristol Township, and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1937. She graduated from the St. Anthony School of Nursing in Carroll, Iowa in 1942 as a registered nurse. She worked in the Carroll office of Dr. Anneberg before returning to Jefferson to care for her mother and work at the Greene County Hospital. Hazel married James H. Rasmussen on January 7, 1950. They farmed in Bristol Township, Greene County. This union of 59 years had three sons: Joe (Martha) of Solon, David (JoAnn) of Jefferson, and Mark (Susan) of Jefferson. She is survived by her husband, sons and daughters-in-law, six grandchildren: Lisa Ott and her husband Justin of Nevada, Dan, Kate, Sarah, Chris, and Alex of Jefferson. She is also survived by her brothers Don (Iola) of Boone, Bob of Jefferson, Loren (Mona) of West Union, and many nieces, nephews and friends. |
