Memorial services for Kenneth L. Peterson, 94, of Jefferson, will be 10:00am October 17, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Linn Grove, Iowa, followed by interment in Oakland Cemetery at Peterson, Iowa. 

Visitation with the family is from 6:30 – 8:00PM Friday, October 16, 2009 at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson, IA.

Kenneth L. Peterson was born January 21, 1915 at the family farm in Douglas Township, Clay County, Linn Grove, Iowa. He was the son of Christian C. Peterson and Jennie C. Bengston Peterson.

Kenneth was united in marriage to Mildred Klatt of Peterson, Iowa on May 25, 1938. Ken farmed for 12 years but left for Jefferson, Iowa to build a gas station and to become owner and operator of Peterson Gas for Less. He retired at age 52. Kenneth and Mildred spent their winters mainly in Ft. Myers Beach, Florida and Texas and Arizona.

Kenneth Peterson died October 8, 2009 at the Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson, IA. He was 94 years of age. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife; his son, Gary K. Peterson; his infant daughter Carolyn Sue; a brother, Emmett Peterson; and two sisters: Gene Dumkrieger, and Evelyn Koch.

Survivors include his daughter, Pamela A. Peterson of Waseca, MN; daughter-in-law, Pamela Peterson of Chesterfield, MO; sister, Helen Van Kemper of Storm Lake, IA; five grandchildren: Dr. Laurie O’Leary; Dr. Jennifer Arter, Michelle Peterson, Troy Wynkoop, and Andrea Schumacher; and three great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, aids, hospice, and Connie B. Your care and the love that you shared were most appreciated. A special thank you to everyone at The Gardens.
