Laurel Hagen
Friends may call at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson after 12 noon Thursday, where the family will greet friends from 6-8:00pm Thursday. Laurel Elaine Lantz Hagen was born June 29, 1925 at Anita, Iowa. She was the daughter of Earl Lantz and Mildred Taylor Lantz. Laurel graduated from Anita High School. She married Walter Hagen on August 25, 1946 at Hiawatha, KS. Laurel and her family lived in Omaha, NE, Bellevue, NE, Emerson, IA, and Boone, IA before settling in Jefferson, Iowa in 1966. Laurel was a homemaker, and for many years she was a grocery clerk in Jefferson for United Grocery, Dunn’s, G&M Grocery and Holiday Foods. Laurel belonged to card clubs, and she enjoyed bus trips to the Iowa Casinos. Laurel especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and attending their sporting events. Laurel Hagen died October 4, 2009 at the Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson. She was 84 years of age. Preceding her in death were her parents; two infant daughters, Janice Sue Hagen and Carol Jean Hagen; her husband Walter Hagen who died February 14, 1997, and two brothers: Dale Lantz and Leland Lantz. Survivors include three daughters: Kathy Calvert and her husband Dan of Jefferson, IA; Cindy Danielson and her husband Tom of Jefferson, IA; Denise McCleary and her husband Rich of Langhorne, PA; three sons: Jim Hagen and his wife Becky of Creston, IA; Dennis Hagen and his wife Shannon of Jefferson, IA, and Steve Hagen and his wife Teresa of Jefferson, IA; one brother, David Lantz of Redfield, IA; twelve grandchildren: Troy (Jody) Calvert; Karla (Mike) Dunagan; Erin (Rick) Rohl; Jennifer (Tom Hansen) O’Tool; Micah (Allison) Hagen; Micaela (Marty) Hirsch; Mickenzie Hagen; Dylan Hagen; Brandon Hagen; Brian Hagen; Daniel Hagen; and Katelyn Hagen; two step-grandchildren: Whitney and Paige Danielson; and 10 great-grandchildren. |
