Memorial Services for Lawrence “Red” McPherson, 85, of Jefferson was 11:00 am Saturday, May 2, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson.  A private family burial will take place at a future date in  Dawson Township Cemetery, Greene County. 

Lawrence Winthrop McPherson, “Red,” was born Aug. 21, 1923 in Iowa City, Iowa. He was the son of Clarence and Myrtle McPherson. Lawrence graduated from Churdan High School in 1941. 
         
Lawrence lived most of his life in the Jefferson area. He worked road construction, operating heavy equipment, before working for the City of Jefferson. He retired as Street Superintendant in 1988. 
         
Lawrence McPherson died April 29, 2009 at Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson, Iowa.  He was 85 years of age.  Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife June, sons Ronnie, Mikie, Gary, and Robert McPherson, son-in-law Tom Blackburn, and his great grandson, Cody Cooklin.
         
Surviving are seven children: Ted McPherson of Marion, IA, Cheryl Blackburn of Stilesville, IN., Steve McPherson of Walker, IA., DeAnna McPherson of Jefferson, IA., Mike McPherson of Jefferson, IA.,  Cindy Baugh of Jefferson, IA., and Peggy McPherson of Ogden, IA.  He has 21 Grandchildren, 42 Great Grandchildren, and a sister Evelyn.
