Funeral services for Mildred Lamonte Kunce, 97, of Jefferson, formerly of Stuart, will be 10:00am Friday April 10, 2009 at the Church of Christ in Jefferson.  Friends and family may view and visit at the Church of Christ in Jefferson beginning at 9:00am Friday.  A committal service and burial will take place at 2:00pm Friday at South Oak Grove Cemetery in Stuart. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Church of Christ, or Long Term Care at Greene County Medical Center.

Mildred Lamonte (Williams) Kunce was born February 6, 1912 at Stuart, Iowa. She was the daughter of Earl B. Williams and Florence Leona (Haskins) Williams. Lamonte, as she was known, had one sister, Beverly Grace Williams who died when four months old. Lamonte attended Stuart School, graduated with the class of 1930. She worked for Northwest Bell Telephone Company from 1930 to 1964 when she retired.

Over the years, Lamonte visited several states and capitals with members of immediate and extended family. Family history was a favorite pastime for several years.

Lamonte had an immediate extended family when she married Myron Ford Kunce at Winterset, Iowa on September 16, 1974. He passed away March 5, 1979.

Mildred Lamonte Kunce was a member of the Christian Church of Stuart and attended the Church of Christ in Jefferson the last few years. She died April 6, 2009 at the Long Term Care Unit of the Greene County Medical Center at the age of 97 years.

Preceding her in death were her parents, sister, husband, one grandson, one granddaughter, and two great-granddaughters.

Survivors include her cousin John (Kitty) Petershagen of Stafford, Texas and their children, Andy (Cristen), Sara (Mike) Christopher, Ben and Rebecca Petershagen and families; step-children: Ray Kunce of Winton, CA; Kathryn Hegwood of Carroll, IA; Jerry (Charlotte) Kunce of Sully, IA; Donna (Leon) Taggart of Scranton, IA; Ron (Jean) Kunce of Bakersfield, CA; Susan (Bruce) Webster of Jefferson, IA; Marv (Syl) Kunce of Jefferson, IA; Linda (Bruce) Nelson of Glidden, IA; 18 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Erma Kunce of Jefferson, IA; cousins and friends.
