Funeral Mass for Michael Dean Pittman, 55, of Jefferson will be 10:30 am Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jefferson.  Interment will be in the Franklin Township Cemetery, Cooper, Iowa.  Visitation will be after 11:00 am Monday, May 4, 2009 at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson with the family present to greet friends from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm with a Prayer Service to follow at 7:30 pm.

Michael is survived by his parents, Bud and Toni Pittman of Jefferson, Iowa; his sister Paula Cosnotti of Running Springs, California; and his brother Joe Pittman (Kathy) of Jefferson, Iowa.

Michael Dean Pittman was born on June 11, 1953 in Long Beach, California.  Mike attended school in Fullerton, California.  He also attended Cypress Junior College.

Mike joined the Navy on August 9, 1970 and served on the USS Bagley as well as other ships.  He was honorably discharged on August 9, 1977.

Mike lived most of his life in California where he worked as a mechanic for Jeep, GM and Ford dealerships.  He owned his own shop in California until he moved to Jefferson in 1996 and opened his shop Mike Pittman Repair with his father, Bud Pittman.  Mike raced late model stock cars for twelve years in California.

Mike was a lifetime member of the V.F.W Post 9599.

Mike passed away on May 1, 2009 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

He leaves behind his parents Harold “Bud” and Toni Pittman of Jefferson; his brother Joe Pittman (Kathy) of Jefferson; his sister Paula Cosnotti of Running Springs, California; two nephews Dion McDermott and Justin Cosnotti of California; great nieces Xandra McDermott and Madeline McArthy; and niece and nephews Karla Dzuris, Chris Dzuris and Kelly Dzuris.
