Robert (Bob) Porter
Bob was born January 27, 1928 in Bagley, IA to Dwight and Hazel Porter. He graduated from Bagley High School in 1946. He worked at the Jefferson Lumber Co, and shortly after was hired by MJ Newsom and traveled the United States remodeling government buildings. While working at the West Union, IA Post Office, he rekindled a relationship with his future wife Patricia Erps. They were married on July 16, 1950 in Bagley and traveled the midwest before returning to Bagley to start their family. In February of 1951 he was called to serve in the Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Japan. Once home, Bob worked for Cornelius Oil for 7 years. In 1960 Bob became a custodian, bus driver and maintenance supervisor for YJB Community School District, and retired after 29 years. He enjoyed fishing, camping, woodworking, craft shows, and being with his family. In 1953 they purchased their home in Bagley, which Bob started remodeling and continued to do so throughout his life. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and sister. He is survived by his wife Patricia of Bagley, a daughter Susan Partridge of Elk Horn, IA; a son Mark(Brinda) of Ames, IA; Grandchildren: Travis(Sheila)Partridge of Elk Horn, IA; Trent(Melissa)Partridge of Elk Horn, IA; and Tanner Partridge of Elk Horn, IA; Kelly Porter of Eagan, MN; Sisters Marcy(Roy) Barlage of Jefferson, IA; Eleanore Mobley of Paton, IA; Great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. |
