Funeral services for Richard William Rogan, 62, of Scranton, will be 1:00pm Saturday, May 30, 2009 at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson. Interment will be in the Willow Township Cemetery.

Richard William Rogan, son of William & Violet (McLaughlin) Rogan, was born in Carroll, IA on October 20th 1947. He graduated from Bayard High School in 1965, and attended Grace University in Omaha, Nebraska.

Richard worked for over 6 years as Area Supervisor for So-fro Fabrics in Cedar Rapids. He drove for College Community School District, Tri-State Tours, and hauled for Lyle Hoyle until he became a caregiver to his father, William, who is 94 years of age Richard was married to Ann Rogan for 23 years and had three children: Cynthia, Theresa, and William.

Richard had a knack for stating the obvious and unashamedly sharing his opinion to all who would listen. He loved to make people laugh and enjoyed life with all that it threw at him. He never said “Can't” and would go out of his way to show you that it could be done, no matter the obstacle. He had a love for fast cars, women, German shepherds, air planes, and motorcycles. He never let anyone, nor anything, slow him down.

Richard died May 26, 2009 at the Greene County Medical Center. He was 62 years of age. He was preceded in death by his mother, Violet Rogan; sister, Roberta Murphy; and friend of eighteen years, Helen Wright. He is survived by his father, William Rogan, of Scranton, IA; son, William Rogan, of Cedar Rapids, IA; two daughters, Cynthia Rogan and Theresa Rogan, both of Cedar Rapids, IA; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
