Sandra K. Weiss Funeral services for Sandra K. (Sandi) Weiss, 47, of Jefferson, will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 28, 2009, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jefferson, Iowa. Interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Lehigh, Iowa. Visitation is from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Saturday, June 27, 2009, at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson. Sandra K. (Sandi) Weiss, daughter of Richard D. and Juleanne A. Swanson was born October 11, 1961, at Des Moines, Iowa. Her family moved to the family farm near Lehigh, Iowa when Sandi was a toddler. She graduated from Central Webster High School with the Class of 1980. Sandi attended the University of Iowa and graduated in May 1984. In 1993, the family returned to Iowa and made Jefferson home. And home it was. Sandi loved the community and all that it offered the children. Sandi and Wade’s lives revolved around the boy’s activities and she readily volunteered her and Wade’s talents. After Jacob entered elementary school, Sandi chose to pursue an additional degree in Elementary Education at Iowa State University. Sandi wore cardinal and gold proudly, not because of her accomplishments, but because all three of her boys will graduate from Iowa State. If asked, however, she would forever claim to be a Hawkeye. She was a familiar face as she substitute taught in the Jefferson Scranton Community School system, first in elementary, then middle school and most recently at the high school level. Additionally, she thoroughly enjoyed teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Sandi’s loving family includes husband Wade, three sons Adam, Neil, and Jacob, father Richard (Delma) Swanson; brother Steve (Suzi) and children Sean, Ryan, Nicole, and Shelby; mother-in-law Sandra Weiss; brother-in-law Bret (Dawn) and son Matthew; brother–in-law Eric ( Jennifer) and sons Nicholas and Ian; sister-in-law Wendy (William) and children Elan, Milo, and Sadie. Her mother Julie and father-in-law Hal, preceded her in death. Sandi had a special place in her heart for Dr. M. Michael Guffy and Lynn Lanning, who graciously helped her in so many ways. The funeral service will be 3:00 pm Sunday, June 28, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson, Iowa with internment following at Oak Grove Cemetery, Lehigh, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 pm Saturday at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson, Iowa. Memorial gifts given in Sandi’s name will assist mothers with health related issues. |
