Funeral Services for Chuck Gross, 85, of Grand Junction will be 10:30 am Saturday at St. Brigid Catholic Church in Grand Junction. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Grand Junction. Visitation will be after 2:00 pm Friday at St. Brigid Catholic Church with a Vigil Service at 4:30 pm, followed by visitation with the family until 7:00 pm, all at the church.
Charles Domnic Gross was born March 16, 1925 to John and Agnes (Kennedy) Gross. Chuck attended eight years at St. Mary’s Academy in Grand Junction, and then attended Grand Junction High School. He enlisted in the Navy on December 8, 1942 and served his country during World War II. He was honorably discharged on January 16, 1946.
On March 5, 1946 he married Arvis Marie Ralle. They farmed south of Grand Junction. They were the parents of two children: Ed and Julie.
Chuck was a member of St. Brigid Catholic Church in Grand Junction. He enjoyed farming, woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Chuck passed away June 3, 2010 at the Greene County Medical Center. He was 85 years of age. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: John, James, Leo, Louis and Eugene, and sisters: Mary Heller, Rita Reedy, Julia Kelly, and Teresa Meyer; and son-in-law Terry Drake.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Arvis Gross of Grand Junction; brother Emmett (Marti) Gross of Richville, MN; sister Eileen Ean Wockam of Walnut Creek, CA; children Ed Gross of Churdan, IA and Julie Drake of Perry, IA; grandchildren: Dwayne and Jimita (Drake) Consier of Ogden, IA; Johnny and Nikki (Drake) Porter of Omaha, NE; Kelly Gross of Churdan, IA; and Chuck and Tammy Gross of Lohrville, IA; and great-grandchildren, Josie and Joelle Consier, Kylie and Paityn Porter, Kaylynn Gross, and James Ekstron.
