Funeral Services for Glenda Davis, 72, of Jefferson will be 10:00 am Thursday at the First United Methodist Church in Jefferson.  Interment will be in the Jefferson Cemetery at a later date.  Visitation will be after 11:00 Wednesday at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson with the family present to greet friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.  Memorials are suggested to the family and may be left at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home.

Glenda Rae Davis, the daughter of Robert and Lucille [Pace] Jewell was born in Aurora, Illinois on January 7, 1938.  Glenda passed away on September 4, 2010 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa from a battle with Leukemia.  She was 72 years of age.

As a child the family moved around a lot but resided in Jefferson.  In 1961, Glenda met her husband Edwin C. Davis and in 1962 had a daughter, Sandy.  In 1964 they had a son, John.  They were married for 12 years then later divorced. 

Glenda was a daycare provider for 40 years.  In her spare time she loved to be in the garden.  She enjoyed working on walnuts and making dish scratchers.  She made Valentines, giving over 500 Valentines to the elderly in nursing homes.  She also loved playing cards with the Tomlinsons.  Glenda loved to read romance novels and most of all loved being with her family.

Glenda was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Lucille Jewell.  She is survived by her daughter Sandy (Tom) Davis of Jefferson, IA; her son John (Sherry) Davis of Glidden, IA; sister Carolyn Meyer of Carpentersville, IL; brothers Don (Diane) Jewell of South Bend, NE and Bob (Diane) Jewell of Arizona City, AZ; aunt Betty Anderson of Omaha, NE; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
