Funeral services for Jerry White, 79, of Shoreview, Minnesota, formerly of Jefferson, Iowa, will be 11:00 am Thursday, December 23, 2010 at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson.  Cremation will follow the service with interment at a later date in the Jefferson Cemetery, Jefferson, Iowa.

Friends may call at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson after 4:00 pm Wednesday, where the family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 – 7:30 pm Wednesday.

Jerry Dean White, 79, died at his home in Shoreview, Minnesota, after a brief battle with cancer.  He was born to Foster and Leone Miller White on October 29, 1931.  Jerry attended county school and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1950.  He served with the naval reserves, actively doing his duty to his country. 

On October 29, 1952, Jerry was united in marriage to Myrna "Jeannette" Flack. 
Jerry started his career with the DX station, (now the Twiin Shoppe) and also ran a tank wagon.  He put many miles on the school bus, with his county route, and stints to after school activities.  Jerry also served as a police officer with the Jefferson Police department.  Jerry retired from Crouse Cartage company in 1995, after spending 17 years on the dock, and 11 years driving a semi truck.  Jerry was a member of the Elks Lodge in Jefferson. 

In 1998, Jerry moved to Shoreview, Minnesota, where on July 10, 1999, he married Lorraine Rothanburg.  During his retirement, his favorite thing to do was to go to the casino.  He will be missed by his many casino friends and acquaintances.

Jerry is survived by his wife Lorraine White;  daughter, Jan Berry of Urbandale; sons, Jeff (Cathy) White of Carlisle, Jay White of Jefferson; grandchildren, Allycia (Bobby) Berry Kreifels, Courtney (Chaundra) Berry, of Des Moines, Sam (Sarah) White, of Carlisle, Casey White of Urbandale, Foster White of Jefferson, and Jake White of Rupert, Idaho; two great granddaughters Taylyn Berry and Averi White; and special son-in-law, Craig Berry of Jefferson.  He is also survived by his step son, Daniel Rothanberg; step daughters, Kathy Schonhardt, Mary Jo Rothanburg, Nancy Rodning, and Patty Bourgeois all of Minnesota; and step grandchildren, Michael Schonhardt, Nash Rothanburg, Ryan Rothanburg, Diana Bolstad, Grace and Joey Bourgeois; and brother-in-law, John Redfern of Jefferson, and nieces Lori and Lisa Redfern.  Many other nieces and nephews also survive.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Foster and Leone, his sister Kathryn Redfern and his first wife Jeannette.
