Memorial Services for Lyle Walker, 80, of Jefferson will be 10:00 am Saturday, April 17, 2010 at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson.  Interment will be in the Jefferson Cemetery at a later date.  Visitation will be after 1:00 pm Friday, April 16, 2010 at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson with the family present to greet friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.

Lyle Ellsworth Walker was born September 7, 1929, in Calhoun County to Loren Walker and Eva Wright Walker.  Lyle graduated from Jefferson High School in 1949.  In 1951 Lyle joined the United States Army.  He was stationed in Europe.

On July 10, 1955, Lyle was united in marriage to Lois Van Sickle at the Central Christian Church in Jefferson.  To this union three children were born: Eldo, Kirk, and Rhea.  They made their home in Jefferson where Lyle worked as an electrician for Shriver Construction and at Franklin Manufacturing where he ran machinery.

Lyle was very active with the Jefferson Little League where he was a Board Member and he also served as President. Lyle assisted Dan Benitz with the wiring for the construction of houses by the Jefferson-Scranton High School Building Trades Class.  He also taught with Dan Benitz evening classes on basic electrical. Lyle also loved to go bowling. You could see him on the Saturday morning bowling show, Let’s Go Bowling. He placed in State Bowling Tournaments, and every Tuesday night you could find him with his red bowling ball at the local bowling alley. Lyle loved to camp with family and friends, enjoyed putting jigsaw puzzles together, and playing with his grandchildren.

Lyle was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Earl.  He is survived by his wife: Lois Walker of Jefferson;  Children:  Eldo (Gina) Walker of Jefferson, Kirk Walker of Jefferson, Rhea Walker of Winona, MN; two Grandsons, Jason (Laura) Walker  and their child Bryce of St. Charles, MN and Justin (Megan) Walker and their children Cody and Natalie of Paton, IA; Brother, Paul (Delores) Walker of Scranton, IA; Sister, Lois (Dean) Lentz of Jefferson, IA; Uncle, Don (Juanita) Wright of Jefferson, IA; Sisters-in-law, Francetta Taylor of Gowrie, IA, Avis Van Sickle of Arlington, TX; Brothers-in-law, R.J. (Miriam) Van Sickle of Houston, TX and David (Ann) Van Sickle of Norfolk, VA.
