Funeral services for Larry Wenger, 73, of Beaver, Iowa will be 1:00 Sunday, July 25, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson.  Interment will be in the Beaver Cemetery, Beaver, Iowa.  Visitation will be after 1:00 pm Saturday, July 24, 2010 at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson with the family present to greet friends from 4:00 to 6:00 pm.  In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorials to the family and may be left at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson.

Larry Gene Wenger was born May 15, 1937 at Ogden, Iowa.  He was the son of Rueben and Evelyn (Hess) Wenger.  Larry was baptized on September 25, 1937 at Zion Lutheran Church in Ogden.  He was confirmed on April 6, 1952 and had Matthew 6:33 as his confirmation verse:  “Seek first the Kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added unto you”.  Larry was reconfirmed April 28, 2002 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson.

On June 9, 1956, Larry was married to Shirley Deal at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Dana, IA.  They became the parents of six children.

Larry was in the Iowa National Guard from July 28, 1955 to March 25, 1960.  He received a medical discharge.  Larry worked at a variety of things, from farming to selling Fuller Brush.  He worked for Cargill, Inc. for 21 years.

Larry was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson.  He served on the Beaver City Council.  Larry and Shirley spent their winters in Texas and their summers in Iowa.  Larry enjoyed family, grand and great-grandchildren, camping, and going to auctions.

Larry Wenger died at his home July 22, 2010.  He was 73 years of age.  His parents preceded him in death.

Larry is survived by his wife Shirley of Beaver, IA; six children: LaRonda Blakely of Mason City, IA, LuAnn (Dick) Westergren of Sauk Rapids, MN, Ronald Wenger of St. Cloud, Minnesota, Robert (Betty) Wenger of rural Perry, Iowa, Rodney (Lisa) Wenger of rural Ogden, Iowa, and LuCinda (Brad) Beltman of Waukee, Iowa.  Also surviving are four brothers:  Lee Wenger of Winterset, Iowa, Jack (Linda) Wenger of Norwalk, Iowa, John (Karen) Wenger of Hollister, Missouri, and Doug (Karen) Wenger of Paton, Iowa; three sisters:  JoAnn (Norman) Ritchhart of Winterset, Iowa, Belva (Gary) Hansen of Bellevue, Iowa and Teresa (Kim) O’Rouke of Altoona, Iowa; many, many grand and great grandchildren.
