Memorial Services for Shirley Scalfaro, 79, of Grand Junction, Iowa will be 10:30 am Thursday, December 30th, 2010 at St. Brigid Catholic Church in Grand Junction.  No visitation is planned.  Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association and may be left at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson.

Shirley A. Scalfaro, daughter of Michael McCormick and Mattie (Andrew) McCormick, was born March 1, 1931 in Churdan, Iowa.  She was the youngest of six children.

Shirley worked at the Jefferson Hospital for several years.  Shirley later moved to Clinton, Iowa where she worked at the Alverno Health Care facility.

On January 25th, 1973, Shirley married Dean Scalfaro in Georgia.  They made their home in Camanche, Iowa for several years. In retirement they made their home in Grand Junction to be close to family, and friends.

Shirley enjoyed decorating her home and tending to her flowers.  Shirley and Dean enjoyed traveling the country in their motor home and camping.  Her real love was spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Preceding Shirley in death were her parents, brothers James, Ivan (Ike) and Rex and her infant sister, Zola.

Shirley is survived by her loving husband Dean, 9 children, Amy Bredall (Charles) of Preston, IA, Nancy Halterman (Ray) of Dana, IA, Becky Lynch (Ed) of Grand Junction, IA, Michael Leonard (Missy) of Sapulpa, OK, Debbie Rickard (Jerry) Pittsburgh, PA, Judy Bailey (Jim) of Portville, NY, Don Scalfaro (Jamie) of Batavia, IL, Greg Scalfaro (Sue) of Beaverton, OR, and Jeff Scalfaro (Stacy) of Blue Springs, MO, 21 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.  Shirley is also survived by her brother Don McCormick (Sylvia) of Churdan IA; and her sister Darlene Anzalone of Omaha NE.
