Wayne Ostrander
Wayne is survived by his sons Dennis (Diane) Ostrander of Jefferson, IA, Jerry (Marlys) Ostrander of Jefferson, IA, and Kevin (Jacalyn) Ostrander of Grand Junction, IA; his daughter Deanna Clark of Moorland, IA; brothers-in-law John (Pat) Malone of Ankeny, IA and Dean Malone of Dallas Center, IA. Wayne William Ostrander was born May 2, 1918 on a farm near Goodell, Iowa. He was the son of Clarence Ostrander and Naomi Pierce Ostrander. Wayne attended school in Mason City, Woodward and Dallas Center, Iowa. On June 12th, 1939, Wayne was united in marriage to Ella Virgirene Malone at the Little Brown Church at Northwood, Iowa. During World War II, Wayne worked with his wife at the Ordinance Plant in Ankeny, IA. Wayne and Virgirene became the parents of four children. Through the years, the couple lived and farmed several locations, including Buffalo Center, Woodward, Dallas Center, Booneville, Jamaica, Grand Junction and Jefferson, Iowa. They farmed for 50 years before retiring. Wayne died March 28, 2010 at the Greene County Hospital Long Term Care Unit. He was 91 years of age. Preceding him in death were his wife Virgirene; his parents; two brothers: Dean and Marion Ostrander; one sister Mary Ellen Tasler; and a son-in-law Darrell Clark. Survivors include one daughter Deanna Clark of Moorland, IA; three sons: Jerry and his wife Marlys of Jefferson, IA, Dennis and his wife Diane of Jefferson, IA, and Kevin and his wife Jacalyn of Grand Junction, IA; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law John Malone and his wife Pat of Ankeny, IA and Dean Malone of Dallas Center, IA. |
