Funeral Services for Betty Aldrich, 75, of Jefferson will be 1:30 pm Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church in Jefferson.  Burial will be in the Dawson Township Cemetery, Greene County, Iowa.  Visitation will be after 11:00 am Monday, February 6, 2012 at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson with the family present to greet friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.  Memorials are suggested to Genesis Development in Jefferson.

Betty Mae Kardell Aldrich, daughter of Otto Henry Kardell and Laura Ilo Boeck Kardell, was born May 9, 1936 in Minden, Iowa.  Betty attended a country school in Avoca, Iowa from 1941 to 1945, Malvern School from 1945 to 1959, and Atlantic High School from 1950 to 1952.  She then graduated from the American Correspondence School in Chicago, Illinois.

In 1952, Betty went to work for the McCord family in Atlantic, Iowa as a Nanny and housekeeper.  She then went to work for the Salvation Army Nursing Home in Omaha, Nebraska before going to work for Mutual of Omaha in the mailroom from 1954 to 1957.

On November 17, 1957, Betty was united in marriage to Charles Aldrich.  Together they made their home on the family farm west of Paton in Dawson Township, Greene County, Iowa.  Betty worked at the Redwood Motel in Jefferson as a bookkeeper and clerk from 1980 to 1991 when she went to work at Genesis where she worked until May of 2011.  Betty and Charles continued to live on the farm until 1991 when they moved to Jefferson, Iowa.

Betty was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Jefferson.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband Charles; her parents; brothers Clarence and Jim; infant sister Evelyn; brothers-in-law: Bernard and Dorothy Aldrich, Harry and Lois Aldrich, Howard Carter; sister-in-law:  Evelyn and Ben De Joode.

Betty is survived by her children:  Kenneth (Debbie) Aldrich of Des Moines, Iowa, Leslie (Tammi) Aldrich of Oelwein, Iowa, Martin (Cindy) Aldrich of Clarinda, Iowa, Laura (Jon) Rollefson of Thompson, Iowa and Rodney (Judy) De Buhr of York, Nebraska; brothers Robert (Darlene) Kardell of Omaha, NE and David (Joyce) Kardell of Hancock, IA; sister Luetta (Harold) Peterson of Council Bluffs, IA; 13 grandchildren:  Lisa Aldrich (Doug Hamann) and their children Blake, Broc, Britleigh, Bellah, Brystol and Brynley Betty; Charles Aldrich, Anthony Aldrich (fiancé April Koecke), Andrew Aldrich, Katie Aldrich, Kory Aldrich, Trent Aldrich, Troy Aldrich, Nicole (Nic) Blaser and their children Samuel and Madelyn; Heather (James) Steddum and their child David; Lorissa Rollefson, Justin Rollefson, and Jeremy Rollefson; sisters-in-law: Bonnie Kardell of Avoca, Iowa, Violet Kardell of Atlantic, Iowa and Eileen Carter of Denver, Colorado; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
