Alma Verda Lorentzen was born April 21, 1918 at Churdan, Iowa. She was the daughter of John Urbin Perkins and Jessie Agnes Allen Perkins.
Alma graduated from Churdan Public School in 1937. She worked in Jefferson at Schopee Café. On November 22, 1945, Alma was united in marriage to Glenn Vernon Lorentzen at Willow Springs, Missouri. The couple lived for a short time with Glenn’s parents and then made their home in Grand Junction, Iowa.
Alma was a member of the Order of the Easter Star and received her Past Noble Grand certificate in January 1958. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge #448 in Grand Junction, and she belonged to the Grand Junction Methodist Church.
Alma Lorentzen moved to Amarillo, Texas in 2003 to be near her nephew, Bill. She died April 14, 2008 at the Georgia Manor Nursing Facility in Amarillo at the age of 89 years. She was preceded in death by her husband Glenn who died July 4, 1986, two brothers: Elmer and baby Lee; and three sisters, Etta Mae, Helen, and baby Mary Viola.
Alma is survived by her nephew Bill Perkins and his wife Hattie of Amarillo, TX; nephew Terry Thompson and his wife Laura of Fresno, CA; other relatives and friends.
